Abstract

This poster demonstrates our research on analyzing the light intensity spectra of stars with data provided by the Kepler Space Telescope. We analyzed the stellar light curves using Fourier Analysis and Wavelet Analysis. Continuous data of the light spectra intensities are used for the analysis of astronomical phenomena such as discovering the orbit of previously unseen planets.   This poster presents the comparison of data collected and analyzed with Fourier Analysis and Wavelet analysis.   Fourier analysis is useful for determining what frequencies are present in a signal.  A wavelet transform is useful in determining what frequencies are present and in a signal and where (or at what scale) each frequency is present. If the signal contains a periodic signal with varying frequencies,  the  Fourier transform could not determine if this occurred.
